When young Chase arrived at his father’s house for a visit, he discovered his Pops laid back on the leather sofa in his den. The older man was visibly exhausted from a long day at work; an airline pilot, Mr. Weston is often required to pull double sometimes triple shifts due to staffing shortages in the industry. This work/life imbalance has taken a visible toll on a man Chase has otherwise viewed as a pillar of strength and stability.

Waking up at 2 a.m. for work is not an easy feat. Typically, Mr. Weston prefers to be undisturbed after an 18 hour shift. When Chase entered the room, however, the pilot smiled warmly and invited his son to sit next to him on the sofa.

Chase asked if a foot massage would make his Pops relax. Mr. Weston could hardly refuse. And as his son administered the massage, the dad’s mind began to drift.

Mr. Weston was quietly pleased that since their breakthrough encounter the previous week, his son Chase had become even more attentive than usual. Mr. Weston didn’t mind this in the least. The truth was that he couldn’t stop thinking about the passionate afternoon that he’d spent with his son. Memories of their physical love consumed him.

Chase also was unable to think about much else, either.
